The origins of Launchpad begin with the wee 90s at a local catholic school and the story of a young lad and his big lips…huh?
Set in Jackson Heights, Daniel was the butt of a small joke amongst the locals that he had enormous lips similar to those of Launchpad McQuack of the famed TV show Duck Tales. Although he personally didn’t believe them (they really weren’t that big!) the joke stuck for his latter years of Junior High.
But years went by and the joke died out along with his ties to his Junior High years.
As time passed, Daniel paid no attention to music in general, until he found a musty old classical guitar wrapped in a mustier black garbage bag in his living room closet. Curious to see what lay in randomly hidden bags, Daniel unwrapped his soon-to-be destiny and wa-la. His mama’s out of tune guitar from the hippy 70s.
Soon, with opportunities to play with his home church and friends here and there, the love of music was born.
Like any teenager’s dream, Daniel wanted to form a band…but what of a name?
LAUNCHPAD!
A name that was once infamous and a mark of shame, now meant something completely different. What if Daniel’s music could be a launchpad. What if his over-sized lips could be that jump-point, the encouragement, the up-lifting sound that could help people fly?
Just like an actual launchpad was the lift off point for helicopters and such, Daniel wanted his music to be a lift off point for those that would tune in…
